73-Year-Old Man Accused of Killing his Girlfriend Detained

 

Nyeri High Court has ordered 30 days detention of a 73-year-old man believed to have murdered his 46-year-old girlfriend in cold blood by clobbering her to death at Thunguma village.

Nyeri High Court judge Lady Justice Moreen Ondera was informed that Julius Kimani is yet to undergo mental assessment owing to the nationwide doctors’ strike.

The accused, Julius Kimani through his Lawyer pleaded with the court to release the accused on bail since no one knows when the strike will end.

The court directed that a pre-bail report be prepared by the probation department and be presented to the court on May 6, 2014 when the case will be mentioned.

Kimani is alleged to have clobbered his girlfriend with a whip and metal rod after they differed when she visited his home on March 7, 2024. 

He later surrendered at Thunguma police post and was promptly arrested.
