Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has warned residents that recording county officers, known as "kanjos," during routine enforcement will result in arrest.
Sakaja, who spoke during a meeting with the officers, expressed dissatisfaction with the growing practice of certain traders and citizens performing theatrics during county inspectorate inspections.
He claimed that the behavior interferes with the officers' ability to effectively enforce regulations and keep the city in order.
Sakaja asserted the need for continuous enforcement of justice, saying, "Anyone found recording your actions should be detained; it constitutes obstruction of justice. It is critical that you carry out your responsibilities without interruption!"
He also expressed concern about some city residents using recorded footage to sensationalise incidents and gain attention on social media platforms.
At the same time, Governor Sakaja emphasized the seriousness of breaking city laws and resisting arrest, emphasizing the officers' responsibility to maintain law and order.
He reaffirmed his unwavering support for the officers and urged them to uphold the law zealously, without fear or favor.
