Two motorcyclists died on Tuesday evening in a fatal road accident near Simerro on the Kisumu-Busia highway.
The boda boda riders, Samuel Odondo and Sylvester Omolo, died on the spot after colliding head on.
According to Siaya County Police Commander Cleti Kimaiyo, one of the riders, Odondo, was travelling from Kisumu to Busia when the accident occurred, and he attempted to overtake another motor vehicle.
In the event, he collided head on with an oncoming motorbike from the opposite direction, killing both riders on the spot.
The second rider, identified as Omolo, had a pillion passenger who suffered pelvic injuries and was taken to Rang'ala Mission Hospital for treatment.
Mr. Kimaiyo confirmed the incident, saying that the scene was visited and bodies were moved to the Ambira Sub-county Hospital mortuary, while both motorcycles, which were severely damaged, were towed to the Ugunja police station.
