KAM Launches 2024 Manufacturing Priority Agenda (MPA) and the Agriculture for Industry Initiative Report

The Agriculture for Industry (A41) project report and the 2024 Manufacturing Priority Agenda (MPA) were released this morning by the Kenya Association of Manufacturers (KAM).

"Steering Economic Growth Through the Manufacturing Sector for the Common Good" is the subject for the 2024 MPA.

The Association's advocacy efforts to improve the competitiveness of the manufacturing industry are directed by the MPA, an annual publication.

The four pillars that support this year's MPA are SME Development, Export-led Industrialization, Global Competitiveness, and Agriculture for Industry.

In his speech, Dr. Juma Mukhwana of the PS State Department of Industry commended the manufacturing sector's contribution to job creation and emphasised its need to create stable value chains.

Declaring, "The manufacturing sector emerges as a promising solution, capable of absorbing this growing workforce and providing sustainable livelihoods," he emphasised the potential for transformative impact on the economy and people's lives.

The 2024 Manufacturing Priority Agenda and the Agriculture for Industry Report were highlighted by Mr. Bharat Shah, the Chair of the Trade and Tax Committee and Director of the KAM Board, as keys to success.

He presented detailed plans for growing Kenya's manufacturing industry and strengthening the connection between it and agriculture.

KAM Mr. Job Wanjohi, Head of Policy Research and Advocacy, outlined noteworthy accomplishments in the 2023 MPA.

He mentioned that MPA 2024 will support the year's advocacy agenda and advance efforts to realise Agenda 20BY30. He also said that the association developed the farmers for Industry plan to promote the use of locally obtained raw materials in production and strengthen ties between farmers and industry.

Among the industry leaders and stakeholders present were Dr. Juma Mukhwana from the PS State Department of Industry, Alex Wachira from the PS State Department of Energy, and Hon. Susan Mang'eni from the PS State Department of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Development.
