Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) is set to close off a section of Uhuru Highway for scheduled service.
The section between Haile Selassie and Kenyatta Avenue Roundabouts will be closed to allow for the installation of service ducts.
KeNHA has said the closure will take effect from 10.00 pm on March 28, 2024, to 5.00 am on March 29, 2024.
Motorists have been asked to follow traffic marshalls on the alternative routes during the disruptions.
KeNHA is currently improving the A8 road with a majority of the works being pavement improvement, streetlighting and road markings.
Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen revealed that the two-year road maintenance will cost Sh3.1 billion.
M/S Wolf Paving Works Kenya Limited has been awarded the contract for the Nairobi Southern Bypass Interchange (Ole Sereni-Athi River Interchange (A8) stretch.
China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC) built the 27-kilometre Expressway for Sh72.8 billion.
M/s Shovels N Trowels Limited will maintain the James Gichuru Road Junction-Nairobi Southern Bypass Interchange (Ole Sereni (A8) Road), Murkomen added.
