KeNHA announces temporary closure of Uhuru Highway for 10 days

The Kenya National Highways Authority has announced a temporary closure of a section of Uhuru Highway.

The Authority said there will be a temporary closure between Hotel Boulevard and the University of Nairobi roundabout (Mombasa Bound).

The road will be closed from March 28, 2024, 11.59 pm to April 6, 2024, 11.59 pm.

KeNHA said the road will be closed to allow for the construction of a pedestrian tunnel connecting the University of Nairobi Main Campus and the Chiromo Campus.

"The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) wishes to notify the Public that there will be a temporary closure of Uhuru Highway (A8) between Hotel Boulevard and the University of Nairobi roundabout (Mombasa Bound) from 11.59 pm on Thursday, March 28, 2024, to 11.59 pm on Saturday, April 6, 2024," KeNHA said.

The Authority directed that all motorists accessing Uhuru Highway (A8) from Westlands and Thika Road use alternative routes.

KeNHA said that motorists should use Harry Thuku Road, University Way, Prof. Wangari Mathai Road and Kipande Road.

Motorists have been advised to approach the affected section with caution.

"Follow the traffic signs and guidance in place as shall be directed by Police and Traffic Marshall on site," KeNHA said.
