Good Friday Murder: Six Kenyans Shot Dead By Al Shabaab

On Good Friday morning, a terrorist attack killed six people and injured one in Dhobley, a border town between Kenya and Somalia.

Al-Shabaab militants opened fire on the six Meru businessmen, killing them. The injured man was identified as a Somali resident from the area.

Authorities have blamed the attack on the Al-Shabaab terrorist group, which is known for its activities in the region.

Confirming the incident, Liboi Deputy County Commissioner Ali Manduku told Kenyans that the attack took place in the early hours of the morning and appeared to be motivated by business rivalry.

Manduku was unable to explain how the six people managed to reach Dhobley, despite the fact that the Kenya-Somalia border has been officially closed since 2011.

Despite the closure, residents from both countries continue to cross the border and engage in business activities and interactions.

Garissa, a region prone to attacks by militants crossing from Somalia, has seen its fair share of violence in recent times.

Late last year, four officers were killed when their vehicle detonated an improvised explosive device (IED) on the Dadaab-Fafi road during a routine security patrol.
