Comedian behind ‘kata simu tupo site’ phrase is dead

 

Popular Tanzanian Comedian Umar Lahbedi Issa alias Mzee wa Mjegeje has sadly passed away.

The comedian who is widely known for his popular phrase ‘Kata simu nipo site’ passed away while receiving treatment at the Mwananyamala Hospital Dar es Salaam on March 20, 2024.

However, it’s yet to be established what the comedian was ailing from.

The comedian became popular over his viral phrase ‘Kata Simu, Nipo Site” that was being used by Netizens across East Africa.

He was later featured in several songs due to his popularity on social media. He had worked with singer Harmonize and other notable celebrities in Tanzania.

Just the other day, he had mentioned that his dream was to work with WCB President Diamond Platnumz.
