DStv Subscription Charges To Go Up By 6% Effective April

MultiChoice Kenya Limited has announced the raising of its DStv prices by up to 6 percent, a move that is likely to hit hard on Kenyan consumers who are already struggling with the high cost of living. This might also see an outflow of customers who might seek other alternatives.

The new rates will mark the third time in less than a year MultiChoice has adjusted its rates upward dealing a blow to the entertainment budgets of households and businesses. Most entertainment joints in Kenya use DStv for football and other games to attract customers.

DStv has already notified customers of the new rates, with the DStv Premium package set for the biggest price jump to 10,500 shillings from 9,900 shillings effective April 1 while the Compact Plus package will cost 6,500 shillings from 6,200 shillings.

“Dear DStv customer, please be advised of the DStv subscription adjustment to Sh2,000 per month on your Family package from April 1, 2024,” the firm said in one of the notices.

Consumers on the DStv Lite will pay 700 shillings from 600 shillings while those on the Family package will pay 2,000 shillings from the current 1,850 shillings.

The Compact package will now cost 3,700 shillings per month from 3,500 shillings that consumers have been paying since August last year. The only package that has not been impacted by the latest price review is the Access package where customers will continue to pay 1,300 shillings per month.

On GOtv, the Supa Package has been increased to 1,999 shillings from 1,899 shillings. Supa Plus will now cost 3,700 shillings from 3,500 shillings.
