UDA Accuses ODM Governors of Giving Raila County Funds

The ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Party stated on Wednesday that it will soon publish a list of governors accused of diverting county funds to finance political activities.

UDA Secretary General Cleophas Malala said that counties governed by ODM governors used public cash to finance opposition leader Raila Odinga's political activities.

Malala stated that the ruling party has evidence to back up its claims.

“In reality, ODM Counties are being mismanaged by corrupt, incompetent and inept Governors who are getting full protection from the ODM party itself, we will be providing evidence of how Governors are using County funds to fund private political activities of their Party Leader Raila Odinga,” stated Malala.

Furthermore, the UDA criticised the ODM Party, accusing it of being confrontational towards state servants in Nyanza.

According to Malala, the ODM was targeting high-ranking civil personnel and selling vitriol to destabilise them.

“We have noted ODM’s penchant for attacking civil servants, particularly in the Nyanza region, the higher the position the more virulent the attacks,” stated Malala

Malala also defended the ruling party, claiming that the government had not used its power to undermine the opposition, as ODM had claimed earlier in the week.

In an official statement, ODM claimed that the UDA was deploying rebels to create havoc at opposition events.

UDA's position came after ODM ousted Urirri MP Mark Nyamita on Wednesday, accusing him of being a UDA agent.

This came after chaos broke out at two separate occasions in the Nyanza region, where supporters of Nyamita and Migori Governor Ochilo Ayacko clashed, prompting police intervention.

The ODM, in a statement signed by Secretary General Edwin Sifuna, accused the UDA of involvement in the chaos.
