ODM Appoints 9-Member Disaster Response Team

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) under the leadership of Raila Odinga on Thursday, May 9, appointed a committee to complement the national government’s response to the flood crisis.

The ODM announced that the party stood in solidarity with the victims of the country's flood disaster.

“As a response to the National Flooding Crisis the ODM Party has established a 9-member Disaster Response Team to coordinate a response and relief efforts to the ongoing crisis,” a statement from ODM read.

The members are;  Eddy Gicheru, Nasra Nanda, Peter Imwatok, Mishi Mboko, Hamida Kibwana, Abbas Khalif, Catherine Omanyo, Benson Musungu, and James Nyikal.

Nyanza, Raila's stronghold, will be represented by Gicheru, the current Migori senator, and James Nyikal from the Seme Constituency.

Mishi Mboko, the Likoni Member of Parliament, will spearhead the committee's work from the coast region.

Nairobi will be represented by Nasra (MCA), Imwatok (majority leader), and Khalif (MCA).

Omanyo is Busia County's Woman Representative, and Musungu serves on the committee as the youth director.

Raila formed the committee just days after stating that his party would lead the effort to raise donations for flood victims.

In his address to ODM supporters, Raila noted that many party officials had already organised fundraising events.
