Suspected Fake Fertilizer Intercepted By Police

Police in Bungoma apprehended a lorry transporting 120 bags of top-dressing fertiliser suspected of being counterfeit.

On Sunday, Bungoma OCPD Wilson Muraya stated that they had received reports of a fertilizer consignment being repackaged at one of the local fuel stations.

He said police stopped the lorry on its way to distribute fertilizer to farmers in various sub-counties.

Muraya stated that the 120 bags bore County Government of Bungoma branding.

"We have impounded it so that officials from the Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) can examine it to determine its authenticity and fitness for use," said the head of the police department.

Bungoma Senator David Wakoli urged the affected farmers to present documents related to the purchased fertilizer for investigation.
