NHIF board, CEO Sued for Contempt over Failure to honour High Court Order

The board of directors and the Chief Executive Officer of the National Health Insurance Fund have been sued for contempt of court in the Milimani High Court, Commercial and Tax Division, for allegedly failing to honour an agreement to renew their contract as agreed in February 2024.

Jomec Limited has filed a contempt of court suit, requesting that NHIF Chief Executive Officer Elijah G. Wachira be brought before the court to show cause why he should not be put to civil jail for openly failing to comply with the court's consent orders given on February 6, 2024.

In the application,Jomec Limited argue that no legal justification has been tendered by the board of directors and the Chief Executive Officer for their disobedient conduct, and in the absence of legitimate grounds, the respondents may be described as being contemptuous.
