Former Riruta MCA Samuel Njoroge, Two Others Found Guilty of Killing Ex-Wife Njambi

Former Riruta Ward Member of County Assembly Samuel Njoroge has been convicted of involvement in the murder of his former wife, Lucy Njambi.

Njoroge was found guilty of murder alongside two other suspects in the tragic incident which occurred in 2018 where Njambi was kidnapped, and sexually assaulted before being murdered.

Justice Joel Ngugi in his Judgement before Kiambu High court ruled that the three accused persons were guilty of Njambi's murder and that all evidence pinned them to the murder beyond any reasonable doubt.

The Judge remarked that the prosecution had lined up 38 witnesses against the accused, and that despite small disparities in the prosecution's evidence, the court paid close attention to the points raised.

The court further cancelled bond for the accused and hence the suspects will remain in custody until the sentencing date which has been set for Friday, April 12.

Njambi was kidnapped in 2018 and sexually assaulted before being burned with acid. Following the event, Njoroge was arrested and charged with the murder of his ex-wife after detectives discovered evidence implicating him.

After her assault, she was left alone in a coffee plantation, where a passerby picked her and drove her to the hospital.

Njambi was transported to Kiambu Level Five Hospital for first aid, and later transferred to Kenyatta National Hospital for specialized care, where she passed away.

The prosecution stated that before Njambi died she informed her relatives and doctors that her estranged husband hatched the attack.
