ODPP’S Goal on Adopting Digital Prosecution Services as Judiciary Launches E-filing System

The Kenya Judiciary unveils the integrated E-Filing system today, supporting The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP)’s objective on automation and adopting digital prosecution services.

The system will significantly reduce the backlog of cases in Kenyan courts and integrate with the ODPP's Uadilifu Case Management System.
The e-filing system is intended to track cases, expedite the filing procedure for petitions and cases, and enhance the overall experience for both legal practitioners and litigants.
The E-filing System will law firms, attorneys, and non-attorneys a platform to start and finish the online case filing procedure from their offices or at a distance.

As a result, they can file cases without having to go to the courthouse or banking rooms to pay their expenses.
Court users will be able to do self-assessment, submit electronic documents to the courts, and pay court fees, cash bail, or court deposits thanks to e-filing.
An interactive SMS service has been put up by the judiciary, and it can be accessed via USSD query services or SHORTCODE.
Customers using the SHORTCODE service will text the short code 22490 with an SMS that follows a predetermined pattern, containing a tracking number and an option between 1 and 4. For instance, 22490 received FDRS2030#1.
On the other hand, USSD is an interactive inquiry service version. To access the menu options, the user must dial *508#.
