Kisii Governor Simba Arati Nominates Julius Elijah Obebo as His Deputy

Kisii Governor Simba Arati Wednesday, March 20, nominated county public service board chair Elijah Obebo to be his deputy.

The communication was made by Kisii Assembly Speaker Philip Nyanumba during a sitting on Wednesday.

“Honourable members, I am pleased to inform this house that I have received communication from His Excellency, the governor of Kisii County, Honourable Paul Simba Arati, on the nominee for the position of deputy governor. Pending approval by the house, he has nominated Mr Elijah Obebo to the position,” Speaker Nyanumba said.

The nomination which is subject to approval by the county assembly comes after Arati’s former deputy, Robert Monda was impeached.

The Senate removed the Deputy Governor based on allegations that he accepted an Sh800,000 bribe from Dennis Mokaya, promising him a commercial manager position at the Gusii Water and Sanitation Company.

Additionally, Monda faced accusations of orchestrating the arrest and detention of his brother, Reuben Monda, for cutting down trees on family land, among other charges.
