June Chepkemei appointed as CEO of The Kenya Tourism Board

June Chepkemei has been confirmed as the new Chief Executive Officer of the Kenya Tourism Board (KTB), replacing John Chirchir, who has been occupying the position in an acting capacity since November 2022.

Tourism Cabinet Secretary Alfred Mutua, in a gazette notice published today, mandated Chepkemei to serve in the position for a period of three years.

“In exercise of the powers conferred by Section 37(1) of the Tourism Act, 2011, the Cabinet Secretary for Tourism and Wildlife appoints June Teclar Chepkemei to be the Chief Executive Officer of the Kenya Tourism Board,” read the gazette notice in part.

Prior to her appointment, she served as the Managing Director of the Kenya Investment Authority (KenInvest).

She holds a master’s degree in communications studies from Moi University, an undergraduate degree in public relations and communications, and a diploma in professional marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM).
