Hearing Of The Case Against 15 Police Officers Behind Abduction of two Indians, Kenyan taxi driver Continues

 


The hearing of a case in which Fifteen SSU police officers accused of being behind the disappearance of two Indians and their Kenyan taxi driver entered day two with the court being told that the accused persons were placed at scene of crime,from Mombasa road, to Thika and then to Abadares National Park.


Police Officer Kennedy Ndeto, who is part of th investigations teams and works with the Internal Affairs Unit told Kahawa Law Courts Principal Magistrate Gedion Kiage that the accused person were tracked from Mombasa Road to Aberdares Forest.


The 15 are accused of the abduction and disappearance of two Indian nationals; Zulfiqar Ahmed Khan and Mohammed Zaid Sami and their taxi driver Nicodemus Mwania Mwange on July 22 and July 23, 2022 at Nairobi County.


Further the court was told the president had to be briefed on the matter because it was a sensitive matter and that it's normal procedure.


The officers drawn from different units in the security and intelligence sector include Peter Muthee Gachiku, James Kibosek Tanuki, Joseph Kamau Mbugua, David Chepchieng Kipsoi, Joseph Mwenda Mbaya, John Mwangi Kamau, Hillary Limo Kipchumba, Stephen Luseno Matunda, Simon Muhuga Gikonyo, Paul Njogu Muriithi, Boniface Otieno Mtulla, Elikana Njeru Mugendi, and Fredrick Thuku Kamau,John Wanjiku Macharia and Michael Kiplangat Bett.


According to the prosecution witness the Indian government legal department assisted with the investigations adding that call records placed the accused persons at SSU offices ,KMA area where the victims offices were located and also at aberdate forest.


However during cross examination the defence wanted to know why it was necessary for them to report the investigations to the president.


At the same time lawyer Steve Ogolla questioned the integrity of the DNA samples collected in India saying that the evidence did not meet the threshold required.


The witness said that first accused person Peter Muthee played the role of trailing the victims and was placed at the scene of crime an argument that was objected by lawyer Danstan Omari.
