President William Ruto has stated that Kenyans should expect fuel prices to fall anytime soon.
Speaking to residents in Kericho on Thursday, Ruto stated that Kenyans will receive good news about fuel prices later today.
The President made the remarks while assuring Kericho residents that he requested an opportunity to fix the economy, which he has done.
He said many aspects of the economy are improving, including the Kenyan shilling, which is now gaining against the US dollar.
"Mimi niliwaeleza mnipatie nafasi kidogo ninyoroshe hii uchumi. Kidogo ilikuwa imeenda ilikuwa imeingia kwa mtaro. Sasa nimetoa kwa mtaro hata mambo ya Dollar mnaona vile inaanza kushika laini. Na leo mtatangaziwa mambo ya mafuta imeanza kuenda laini kwa sababu tuanataka kuhakikisha kwamba kenya inasonga mbele bila ya mzingo na hatari ya mambo ya madeni. We must be careful as a nation," Ruto said.
The President's remarks come ahead of the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (Epra) scheduled announcement of fuel prices for the next month.
In Epra's announcement for the month of February-March, the prices of petrol, diesel and kerosene were reduced by Sh1.
The changes saw the fuel retail at Sh206.36 for petrol, diesel at Sh195.47 and Kerosene at Sh193.23, in Nairobi.
Super petrol retailed at Sh203.3, diesel at Sh192.41 and kerosene at Sh190.05 in Mombasa.
In Nakuru super petrol retailed at Sh205.35, diesel at Sh194.88 and kerosene at Sh192.66.
Super petrol retailed at Sh206.12, diesel at Sh195.65 and kerosene at Sh193.43 in Eldoret.
According to Epra, the price of Diesel has been cross-subsidized with that of Super Petrol while Kerosene has been fully stabilised.
