Former Nairobi PC Davis Chelogoi Faces 6 Criminal Charges, Remanded For 4 Days

Former Nairobi Provincial Commissioner Davis Nathan Chelogoi will now have to spend weekend in police cells as he awaits the court to rule on whether he will be released on bond or not.

The former PC was detained after he presented himself in court today barely an hour after the Court issued a warrant of arrest against him for failing to honor court summons.

He however denied six criminal charges of defrauding an Indian National a piece of land valued at Ksh 1.35 billion.

In the first count, he is said to have defrauded businessman Ashok Rupshi Shah and Hitenkumar Amritlal Raja of a parcel of land measuring 7.390 hectares situated in Lower Kabete Road valued at Ksh.1.3 billion.

In count two he was charged with forcible detainer of a 7.39ha parcel of land belonging to Ashok Rupshi Shah and Hitenkumar Amritlal Raja.

He was also charged with forging a letter of allotment of the said piece of land.

Further, the prosecution alleged that the former PC forged the signature and stamp of Pauline Achieng Pesa, a land registrar officer with state department of land.

Chelogoi has previously failed to appear in court summons and despite three previous warrants of arrest being issued against him.

The former administrator had been directed to appear in court today morning for plea-taking but failed to show up.

Principal magistrate Dolphina Alego issued another arrest warrant before Chelogoi finally appeared in court.

The Court said it issue a bond and bail term ruling against Chelogoi on Monday 25, March 2024 at 9:00AM.
