A three-year-old boy tragically died on Thursday evening after drowning in an open borehole while playing at Bodi market in Nyakach sub-county.The minor was playing with other kids when he accidentally fell inside the borehole.
Upper Nyakach Assistant County Commissioner Dawin Orina, who confirmed the incident, said the boy was with his mother, a market trader.
According to Orina, locals noticed his body floating and retrieved it before transporting it to the Nyabondo Mission Hospital Mortuary.
He warned locals not to leave such bodies of water unsealed, especially given the current heavy rains.
