The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party is once again mourning the unexpected demise of another party member, Jane Akinyi, the chair lady for Utawala Ward in Embakasi East constituency who died after a short illness.
The Raila Odinga-led party eulogised the deceased as a loyal and dedicated leader who contributed to the party's growth in Utawala and Nairobi.
"We are saddened by the passing on of our Chairlady for Utawala Ward in Embakasi East Constituency Madam Jane Akinyi after a short illness. As a party, we have lost a loyal & dedicated leader who worked hard for the party’s growth in Utawala & Nairobi as a whole. May her soul RIP," the party said.
The latest comes a month after the party announced the death of its official in Kiambu county.
According to the party, Joseph Njoroge Kihara, a chairman of the Githunguri branch in Kiambu County died after a short illness.
The party mourned Kihara as a loyal and dedicated party member who worked tirelessly to popularise the party in Kiambu.
"Today we mourn the passing on of our chairman of the Githunguri Branch in Kiambu County Joseph Njoroge Kihara after an illness. We have lost a loyal and dedicated member of the party who worked tirelessly to popularise the party in Kiambu. We shall miss him. RIP Chairman," the party said.
Kihara's death followed the death of two other ODM members.
The two, Aggrey Okoth, a branch youth league official in Gem and Abiud Ochilang'ole, a former Member of County Assembly (MCA) in Teso South died after short illnesses.
In January, the party was mourning the death of its Wundanyi branch chairperson Christopher Mchana who died after an illness.
