Natembeya Orders Kitale Landlords To Paint Their Business Premises Green

Governor George Natembeya ha ordered all business premise owners in Kitale Town to paint their properties green.

The county boss said the initiative is part of a beautification programme for the town under the guidance of the Kitale Municipal Management Board.

The chosen colour will serve as a distinctive identity for establishments in Trans Nzoia with the approval of the county assembly.

Governor Natembeya said this on Wednesday at the Railway Grounds in Kitale during the County Usafi Day.

Usafi Day is an opportunity for county staff and the business community to participate in cleaning up the town.

Governor Natembeya added that a formal notice will be issued to landlords instructing them to renovate and beautify their commercial buildings and paint them in the county colours.

“They cannot be collecting rent from tenants and yet the environment they operate from is disorganised, some of these buildings are very old and should be condemned,” Governor Natembeya noted.

With the support of the World Bank, Governor Natembeya said the county government will enhance infrastructure development in the informal areas within Kitale Town.

As part of the initiative, the county boss said roads will be paved and street lights installed in various areas including Matisi, Mitume, Maridadi, Kalabana and Shimo la Tewa.

The County Executive for Lands and Urban Planning, Ms Janerose Mutama, urged local investors and the business community to keep the environment clean.

She said the county government had allocated enough funds for the facelift of the agricultural town to attract investors and boost the local economy.
