Pastor Dorcas Gachagua left a crowd of university students in stitches when he revealed how her husband, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, tried to win her heart.
Pastor Dorcas during an interfaith Thanksgiving at the university, recounte her days as a K.U student in the 1980s, when Gachagua pursued her.
Her first interaction with the truthful man occurred when he visited K.U as Chairman of the Nyeri District Students Union of the University of Nairobi.
Then, Gachagua was registering pupils to visit former President Moi's Kabarnet Gardens, as was customary. When she saw him in a brown suit, she liked him.
"I didn't pay much attention but I thought he was interesting. So we started talking. Young men please dress well always," Dorcas jokingly said.
She explained that she was willing to change hostels anytime Gachagua arrived because she had not yet decided to join him on his trips.
"I used to stay in Ruwenzori, and every time he came hunting for me, I would move hostels just to avoid him."
"I really gave him a hard time for like six months, trying to evade him because I hadn't decided yet," Dorcas added.
She ultimately gave in to his efforts, and they married and had two boys.
Dorcas attended the event following the March 18 catastrophe, which killed 11 K.U students and badly injured 18 others.
