The Judicial Service Commission has promoted 39 judicial officers, who will serve in various capacities including as Senior Principal Magistrates.
The promotions are aimed at facilitating clearance of case backlog within the Judiciary as well as improving the access to justice.
“The JSC is mandated to review the conditions of service of Judicial Officers under Article 172 of the Constitution. In the discharge of this function, the Commission in meetings held on March 14, approved the promotion of 39 Judicial Officers following successful interviews,” the Commission said.
Those promoted to the rank of Senior Principal Magistrate are:
Agnes Wahito Mwangi,Albert Saitabau Lesootia,Edgar Kagoni Matsigulu and Agnes Makau Ndunge.
The four previously served as Principal Magistrates.
Eleven (11) Senior Resident Magistrates have also been promoted to serve as Principal Magistrates.
They include: Susan Njeri Mwangi, Eugen Kadima, Phillis Lusiah, Geoffrey Onsarigo, Oscar Muigai Ruguru,Rachael Njoki Kahara, Atieno Ndege Ogonda, Electer Akoth, Daisy Jepkemboi Toigat, Jackson Obuya, George Rachami.
JSC also promoted 24 Senior Principal Magistrates to the rank of Chief Magistrates among them: Pamella Achieng, Barbara Achieng, Jacinta Atieno, Josphat Waititu, Eunice Kagure, Ambira Orimba, Kibet Sambu, David Wanjohi, Benard Ondego, Esther Boke, Joseph Were Maloba,Carolyne Akinyi, Thomas Atanga, Harrison Omwima, Victor Wakhumile, Daniel Musyoka, Thomas Maraguri Mwangi, Benjamin Atiang, Anthony Kinuthia, Mary Immaculate Gwaro, Philip Wambua, Benard Maina Ochoi, Charles Mutai Soi, and Paul Biwot
The commission further created the position of Registrar, Automation within the Registrars’ establishment in the Judiciary and has appointed Elizabeth Tanui.
