Strike still on, doctors say after ‘failed’ meeting with CS Nakhumicha

Doctors have vowed to continue with their nationwide strike after they failed to reach an agreement in a meeting with Health Cabinet Secretary Susan Nakhumicha.

The medics have denied CS Nakhumicha’s claims of agreement on CBA and medical interns as they called for a full-blown job boycott as officials rule out bare-minimum service delivery.

“We call on doctors working at KNH, MTRH on minimum services to escalate this so that they are quickly addressed,” Kenya Medical Practitioners Pharmacists Dentists Union SG Davji Atellah said.

“We had been promised that medical interns will be posted in February. And then we were promised that they will be posted in March. Today we have been promised that they will be posted in April.”

“It’s not a strike for promises. It’s a strike for outcomes.”
