Nyandarua Launches Committees To Spearhead Vetting of Alcoholic Drinks Outlets In Bid to Eradicate Illicit Brews

The County Government of Nyandarua has formed a committee to lead the screening process for establishments that will be allowed to sell alcoholic beverages in the County, with the goal of stepping up efforts to combat the sale and distribution of illicit and second-generation alcohol.

Dr. Kiarie Badilisha, the governor of Nyandarua County, and Abdirisack Jaldesa, the county commissioner, applauded the action and vowed to keep up the fight against the production, distribution, and consumption of alcoholic beverages, particularly second-generation hops.

Mr. Jaldesa pointed out that 134 pubs and 62 stores selling wines and spirits had already been shut down by the government in Nyandarua.

On his side, Governor Badilisha vowed to ensure that a generation today and in the future has been saved from the scourge of alcoholism.

With the most recent crackdowns led by Interior Cabinet Secretary (CS) Prof. Kithure Kindiki, the administration has demonstrated consistency and resolve in eliminating illegal alcoholic beverages.

He made it clear that the war on drugs and alcohol will now be fought with the same rigour as the fight against banditry, terrorism, and other major criminal activity.
