Five Killed As Matatu Rams Into A Tractor In Silibwet, Bomet County

 


A road accident on the Olonguruone-Silibwet Road in Bomet County killed at least five people on Monday.

An accident involving a matatu and a tractor left 18 people injured.

"It happened that the driver was driving his motor vehicle from Olenguruone heading towards Bomet general direction and on reaching the location of the accident, the driver of the matatu failed to keep to his proper lane and rammed on the tractor," according to a police report obtained by the Star.

The 18 injured people have been taken to Tenwek Mission Hospital. The vehicle and tractor have been towed to the Bomet police station for further action.

The National Transport and Safety Authority reported that 649 people have died in road accidents across the country between January and February 2024.
